About Us
GUDA Loungewear is a very small, very family-run business based on a farm in the Cotswolds.
Run by Guda – pictured, with Border Collies Florence and Boris – who is originally from the Netherlands and has subsequently been a vet in and around Gloucestershire for over three decades.
In 2010 a cattle health conference took her to New Zealand where she came across an Australian chain selling well-designed loungewear.
Inspired by these shops, she came home and started a small cottage industry that same year, designing, making and selling pyjama bottoms and shorts, for men and women.
Guda always had a passion for nice fabrics, and the new venture was an opportunity to use top quality silks and cottons to make products that look and feel good, and – most importantly – last for a long time.
In fact, many customers still wear bottoms that were purchased up to 15 years previously that we're told are still going strong!
After a couple of years, fair-wear bamboo tops were added to the range, plus hairbands made from the fabric off-cuts. Recently, Ecovero tops made from wood pulp, and T-shirts made from organic cotton waste and plastic bottles were also added.
The business has been sustainable, and many buyers are repeat customers.
GUDA Loungewear is a true family affair, with husband and children being reluctant models, and Brad (partner of one of the daughters) helping with the IT side of the business.
Products are sold from the website and at various summer and Christmas fairs. As all bottoms and shorts are homemade, bespoke is not a problem and often does not even incur an extra cost; e.g. let us know if you need shorter or longer legs!
